Tokyosnowlet: Pablo Picasso Had a Mistress

Pablo Picasso Had a Mistress

  • Didn't Expect That Though
A loooooong time ago in 1927, Picasso met a 17-year-old blonde outside a Paris Metro station, named Marie-Therese Walter. He was 45 at that time when he approached her and said, “I am Picasso. You and I are going to do great things together.”

And then once she was alseep on the couch...

And voila! “La Lecture” was born. That was the title of the painting of his mistress. At Sotheby’s auction in London on Tuesday, it was sold for stunning £25.2 million (US$40.7 million). There were up to 7 bidders who were racing to bid for this painting. It went to an anonymous bidder who bid through the telephone. Lol.

So much for a painting. No doubt it's a masterpiece though.
