An Open Letter to the People of the Republic of Ireland - The Queen of Englands' Visit

To the Grand People of the Republic of Ireland,

I am of Irish heritage on both sides of my family tree, Mum's side emigrated to the U.S.A., Da's side to Canada, that stated I know of history and it is high past time to let bygones be just that, bygones. The Irish people have done a magnificent job of doing just that as have the British over the past decade or so and both have shown the world just what can be achieved by peace, please, I implore both not to ruin this opportunity.

Rather, I implore you as a proud people to show your true colors in being so and show the world at large just how hospitable the Irish people are when the Queen of England sets foot on Irish soil. I am no expert but believe she does this not of pity or arrogance , but rather outreach for allies, be it economic or otherwise in a neighborhood you both obviously share.

This is historic. The world is watching .Do not screw this up.

Let's be honest here, past differences no longer matter in these troubled times as those who want to be free need friends of the same thought and those friends are dwindling for all, keep those left close.

Remember as Christians that there is a definite enemy approaching and maybe in your midst as we speak that is larger and more dangerous to your way of life and that is also the the common enemy shared with many a Briton - islamofacsism.

I ask in the name of Saint Patrick that you show all courtesy afforded to a head of state, in this case Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, your neighbor.

Please remember I am American and know full well of my country's founding but also know that all three of us; Republic of Ireland, United Kingdom and the United States are allies, if we cannot be civil to each other then we assuredly are doomed together.
